In the third part of our Indian Buddhist pilgrimage, we hiked up Vulture’s Peak, where the Buddha often meditated in seclusion. We also visited the caves of Moggallāna and Sariputta, two of Buddha’s chief disciples. After a peaceful trek, we headed to Sarnath, the site of Buddha’s first sermon, where he taught the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta. The trip continued with a river cruise on the Ganges, where we witnessed traditional cremations, a vivid reminder of impermanence. The pilgrimage ended with reflections on the peaceful experiences of visiting these sacred sites in India.
