During our Indian pilgrimage, we visited key Buddhist sites like Bodhgaya, where Buddha attained enlightenment, and Dungeshwari Cave, where he practised austerities for seven years. We also explored Rajgir, home to Buddhism’s first monastery, and Nalanda, one of the world’s oldest universities. Each site holds deep spiritual significance, offering pilgrims a chance to reflect on the Buddha’s journey. Along the way, we visited Root Institute, supporting local communities, and learned about Hindu traditions at the hot springs. The pilgrimage ended with the story of King Bimbisara’s arrest, where we could view Buddha’s meditation site on Vulture’s Peak.
